There are many popular forums today having hundreds of thousand members with different niches to discuss. Forum has been seen as an avenue where people gather to discuss, ask questions, give answers and thereby making it an information platform.

Some popular forums are: richdadforum.com, betternetworker.com, nairaland.com, warriorforum.com, conqueryourniche.com and so on. Register and join your niche.

To make a way for your business through forums these are the factors you should put into consideration.
  • YOUR USE OF FORUM SIGNATURE: when you register with any forum; you are provided with account details area. Don't try selling your e-book by yourself unless you have so much money to go building online store, putting adverts and also if you have the experience with a made online reputation to go with it.

  • People like buying books from an author they knew and believe in his/her works. This means you should build a reputation online; you sure need it. How to Add a Business to Search in Google and Yahoo

Many believe that when it comes to websites, "if you build it, they will come." But the fact is, you must drive business to your website just like you would for a storefront business. Online search engines like Google and Yahoo! allow you to do just that--get your website listed so that when someone is searching for the product or service that you provide, your website will pop up in the search engine rankings. Here's how to get people to notice your online business through Yahoo! and Google.

Instructions

  1. Step 1

Go to http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl. Cut and paste or type this url address in to the address bar of your browser, or use the link provided in the Resources section below. This is the direct link to submit your website to Google.

  2. Step 2

Type in your web address. Scroll down to the box that says "URL." Type your website address in the box and hit the tab button until your cursor is in the box below the boxed letters.

  3. Step 3

Type in the "code" that you see in the box. In this box you are going type in the colored letters that you see in the box. Sometimes the letters are red. Sometimes the letters are green. You will need to type the letters exactly how you see them.

  4. Step 4

Hit the submit button. After you have finished typing your website address and filled in the code that you see in the box, your next step is to hit the Add Url button.

  5. Step 5

Go to http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html to submit your site to Yahoo! Cut and paste or type this URL address in the address bar of your browser, or use the link provided in the Resources section below. This is the direct link to submit your website to Yahoo!

  6. Step 6

Click on the link. Click on the first link that says "Submit Your Site for Free."

  7. Step 7

Type your web address. In the first box (there should already be a an http:// type in it) add your website address after the http://.

  8. Step 8

Hit the submit button. Click on the button that says "Submit URL."

Tips

  • Change the content on your website as much as possible, keeping it fresh and updated. Search engines like Google and Yahoo! love fresh content and it increases the chances that your site will rank in the search engines.
  • Submitting your site to Google and Yahoo! does not guarantee placement in the search engine rankings. You will need to continuously submit your URL to these two search engines to ensure that the search engine keep "crawling" your site.

How to Make Mozilla Fire Fox 10X Faster

Most people don't know this but the people at Mozilla created Fire Fox with an emphasis on performance rather than speed. It's set so that it uses the minimal computer memory while providing less than stellar speed.

If you have a new computer then this is a total non issue and the folks at Mozilla are babying you. It's time to unleash the true Fox.

  1. tep 1

Open Fire Fox. Open a new tab. In the address bar type "about:config", without the quotes.

  2. Step 2

You will get a cute as a button error message that says:
"This may void your warranty! Changing these advanced settings can be harmful to the stability, security, and performance of this application. You should only continue if you are sure of what your doing."

Click on "I'll be careful I promise!"

  3. Step 3

You will be assaulted by a mind bobbling list of googlygook techo babble. Take a moment to put on your geek eyes and notice that the entries are in alphabetical order. Scroll down until you see this:

    browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs

When you see this double click on it so it = true

If you do not see this entry than one of your Firefox add-ons has already set it to true. All that this does is allow you to see advanced options. If you don't see it just move on to the next step.

  4. Step 4
Take that IE! Firefox doesn't even have to be as fast as it can be to take your market Share.

Now scroll down further until you see this:

    network http.pipelining

Double click on it so it = true

  5. Step 5

Now look down one and click on this:

    network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Double click on it and change it from 4 to 100.

This enables FF to use 8 threads per tab which means that now it can really burn some rubber. It will use a bit more memory but I've found that it's not too burdensome.

To test this I even made these changes to my three year old laptop and it didn't slow it down at all. In fact if Mozilla refuses to load video and you have an older computer this may fix it because it will allow allow it to use more memory.

Now that you've made the changes you can close the tab and load a YouTube video or hit your Stumble Upon button and enjoy the speed boost. Nice isn't it?

This change wont cause any damage but messing around with the other entries will so don't do it.

How to Drive Traffic to Your Web Site Using Traffic Exchanges

So you've made a killer website and you figure that you can just sit back and wait for the traffic to flow in right? This is a common misconception. Website traffic just doesn't work like that. It can take time for Google to crawl and index your site. What can you do in the meantime? Enter traffic exchanges.

Traffic exchanges have been in use for over ten years. In this article I will give you step by step instructions on how to select and get the most out of this tool.

  1. Step 1

Simply Googling "traffic exchange" will get you no where fast. You will get over one hundred seventy million search results for that. You will see traffic exchange sites on the first page but how do you know that these exchanges are worth your time and effort? Try Googling for "Traffic exchange forum" instead.

Join one or more of the forums and open threads asking for information on which exchange is the best. Tally up the results and go with the one that is recommended the most.

  2. Step 2
    Take advantage of forums
    Take advantage of forums

In order to join a traffic exchange site you will have to give them your email. For this purpose I suggest using a disposable email address. If you do not know how to do this please look down to the resources section where I have linked to an article that shows how to do it. The process is free and easy and will protect your email account from spam.

Once you've signed up for the traffic exchange site you will have to log in and click on the "surf now" button, or something similer. Their site will place you in a website feed that you move through by clicking on a button. You click through websites in order to gain credits.

Even the best traffic exchange sites have a pretty bad ratio, usually 3:1. This means that for every three websites that you view one other user will view your website once.

All of these sites offer a paid membership option that gives one a better ratio but I do not recommend this. You are only required to stay on a particular page for ten seconds or so. It does not take long to accumulate views.

  3. Step 3
    Stand out!
    Stand out!

Before you put all of this effort into driving this traffic to your site you should be aware that unless your content stands out it will do you little good to get these views. The people viewing your content at the traffic exchange site are advertisers themselves and remember that they've been viewing ads for several minutes or hours before yours comes up.

Because of this it is best that the page that you submit to the traffic exchange be as ad free as possible. The site that you use should be eye catching but not in a commercial way. For example, you may consider submitting a blog that is related to the subject of what you are selling. Link the blog to your commercial website and make sure that the blog is attractive and engaging.

The traffic exchange site users will be relieved to get a break from those horrid squeeze-pages that make up ninety nine percent of the feed and are more likely to actually look at your content or even bookmark you. Never submit a squeeze-page to a traffic exchange site; this is a waste of time.

Warning!

  • It's better to focus on using one traffic exchange site than trying to use two or more at once. Otherwise you will find it very difficult to get any work done.
  • If you are thinking of promoting a site in hopes of increasing the number of clicks on ads on your page then be aware that Google frowns on this.

HOW TO DISCOVER BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES ANYWHERE

Are you interested in doing something to earn a living but don't know what to do? You are welcome to this great resource on how to discover business opportunities. I have a friend who actually have a hundred thousand bucks but so confused on what to do with the money. It amazes me to see people not knowing what to do when there are countless of opportunities out there waiting to be exploited. What generate business opportunities is our environment and its changes. This is why it is necessary for us to update ourselves with information as this reveals the changes in our environment and gives us the entrepreneurs the chance to make business exploits.

FACTORS THAT HELP YOU TO DETERMINE GOOD BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES

  1. Market vacuum: look around you environment properly and you will discover that there are people's need which are not met. This is an opportunity for an entrepreneur to capitalize on and make a living. Like in Nigeria, there are no companies manufacturing some capital goods like washing machine, tractors but people really need them. Some entrepreneurs went to import these goods from the West down to this country.
  2. Existence of poor quality product: when there are poor services or products in an industry, it is an opportunity waiting to be tapped. Go ahead and provide a better quality product or service and you will enjoy what you do. Example can be drawn in the poor and slow services that were offered in the postal services which created an opportunity for fast delivery services from companies like DHL.
  3. Overpriced product: when a product or service is overpriced in an industry, it creates a room for opportunities provided that you can offer the same quality of service at a cost effective lower price. Like in the telecommunication industry in Nigeria, high charges of MTN have given an opportunity for other telecommunication company to come in promising to give a better service at a lower price.
  4. Monopoly: this is a market where a single producer produces/supplies a product or service for the entire market. There are some monopolies that are legally backed up by the law. In a situation whereby there are no laws protecting the monopoly; this is a good factor pointing at a good business opportunities.
  5. More demand over supply: any market where the demand for a product or service is much higher than the supply of the same product is a business opportunity staring at you in the face.
  6. New and improved technology: when there is a discovery on new or improved way of doing things, it can be an indicator to good business opportunities. Use of computer and internet is a change in technology making it easy to connect the world and so many has identified the opportunity of selling themselves to the entire world.
  7. Alternative raw material: discovering of an alternative to an existing raw material is an opportunity for business men and women to tap from. People are now hammering on the use of solar energy to drive car instead of petrol. How about the solar-powered generator or have you not heard about that?

How To Successfully Invest In HYIP

Through my years of experience investing in HYIPs myself, I bring to you the following 5 tips that I ALWAYS look for before investing:
1. Advertising - This is one of the most important factors. Any HYIP that advertises will get a lot more members and more money flowing in than a HYIP who just has a thread on a couple forums.
Because of this there are also a wider range of people promoting it and telling others bringing in even more people and investments. And as you should know new members and new investments are the cornerstone to a longer lasting HYIP.
Advertising is probably the one factor that can make the biggest difference in the success of a HYIP.

2. Reputation - Before investing in any HYIP it is vitally important to check out the reputation of it and read what other people are saying. By checking the reputation you can protect yourself from joining a HYIP that's not paying or that has poor customer support or that is inevitably going to fail very fast due to people posting bad experiences.
It's also possible that someone has a good idea who the HYIP admin is and depending on what they have to say about this admin they can increase the number of people who join or completely halt the increase of new members.
If the HYIP doesn't have much of a reputation yet because it's too early, you could wait until you hear more about it or simply join based off of the other 4 major factors.

3. Earnings Gap Between Plans - I've seen plenty of HYIPs that look great right from the start but after more closely reviewing their plans I saw that it can really make them far too risky.
Multiple plans are common among HYIPs and they typically involve giving higher earning percentages to the larger investors. This is very common and in fact can be helpful for a HYIP, but watch out to make sure the higher plans don't pay out too much more than the lowest plan.
This will keep you from getting into a HYIP that gets totally decimated when the couple largest investors decide to take out all their money.
4. Age of the HYIP - You must look at the age of a HYIP before investing. So many people out there will look to see what program is having the most success and then invest in it only to have it close down within the next couple days.
If the HYIP is too many days old your risk can greatly increase. It is best to try to enter very high paying HYIPs within the first couple days and for the lower paying HYIPs within the first handful of days. I'm avoiding specificity due to the fact that this completely depends on the type of HYIP.

The point is that it is a good idea to get into a HYIP as early as you feel comfortable getting in at. If you're happy with all the other factors and it looks promising get in then or don't get in at all.

5. HYIP Monitors - Basing your judgment off of HYIP monitors alone is a very bad idea but if you combine it with the other factors mentioned here it can help increase your odds of success.
If a HYIP is subscribed to at least a few Monitors then it is a good sign, if it is subscribed to a lot of Monitors or has paid for premium listings on a Monitor then it is a better sign. Conversely, if it is not subscribed to any monitors then you should be a little more wary.
Truthfully this factor doesn't weigh too heavily on my investment decisions but it can help push me one way or the other when I'm on the fence.

Summary
Using these five tips you will be able to choose HYIPs that are more likely to succeed and hopefully will become a more successful HYIP investor.
Remember that these 5 tips don't specifically apply to every type of HYIP but should still give you a good idea of what you may want to look into for any program that you join.

How To Generate/Create Your Adsense Code

Monetizing your site or blog with Google AdSense is a great way to help generate extra revenue online; It is a lot easier to set up than it may appear at first. Follow the steps bellow to get your Adsense code generated

Step1 Log into your Google AdSense account
Step2 Go to the "AdSense Setup" tab in your account profile. It is the middle tab at the top.
Step3 You will be taken to an "AdSense Setup" screen that list the available Google AdSense ads that you can create. The most common items you will find on the page are:

AdSense for Content Display ads that are targeted to your site's content or audience.

AdSense for Search Improved! Offer your users site search or web search while earning revenue from ads relevant to their search terms.
AdSense for Feeds Place relevant ads in feeds that Google manages for you.
AdSense for Domains Display ads on your parked domains.

Step4 We will be choosing the first ad unit option to help you get started setting up your ads. Go ahead and click on the "AdSense for Content" link. This will then take you to the next page where we will chosse the type of ad unit.

Step5 You will now see two options for the type of "AdSense for Content" ad that you want to create. These options will be "Ad Unit" or "Link Unit". I recommend that you select the "Ad Unit" radial button, and that you also keep the default ad type in the drop-down selection as "Text and Image ads". You can take a look in the drop-down box for other types of ads that you can serve on your site, but the image and text perform the best overall and give advertisers more content to serve up. So stick with this. Go ahead and click "Continue" at the bottom of the screen.

Step6 Excellent Alright, so now we are taken to a page called "Choose Ad Format and Color". Here is where you will be selecting the size and shape of the ad that you will integrate into your site, as well as matching the ads color to your site layout. If you want to get an idea for where Google gets all of the ad sizes and shapes from - check out my link in the resources section that shows you the Internet Advertising Bureau standards. This will help you with your site design as well.
Step7 Start out in the drop down box next to the word "Format" on the screen. There are a lot of different sizes available for your site, and you can choose as many as you like for your site, but it is important to pick the ads that will best fit in with your sites layout and design. It is also important to remember that the best performing ad unit sizes are:
300x250 medium rectangle
728x90 leaderboard
160x600 skyscraper

I recommend that you select one of these ads for your first Google AdSense ad. Choose its size in the drop-down box.

Step8 Next go to the "Color" section and use the color palette to try and match the ad color to best match your site. You can preview your ad by clicking on the "Preview this AdSense unit" link. You can also even select the corners that the border of your ad unit will have if you do not want it to be contained in a box. You can round the corners slightly or a lot by using the "Corner Styles" drop-down box. Go ahead and click "Continue" at the bottom of the page.

Step9 Now you will be taken to the "Choose Ad Channels" page where you can customize the channels that your ad will serve. This is a little more advanced, and I will discuss this in another article, so you can skip this for now. Don't worry, your site will still serve up ads, and generate revenue for you without this for now. Click the "Continue" button at the bottom of the page to move on.

Step10 So now you will be taken to a screen that says "Save and Get Ad Code". Here is where you can modify the ad unit name, and get your HTML code to copy and paste into your site or blog. Personally, I keep the ad unit size, and just add the site name so that I know what ads are running where. No click the "Submit and Get Code" button on the bottom of the screen.

Step11 When you click this button, you will be taken to the very last page of the process. This page takes you to a screen that has the HTML code for you to put onto your site. Simply copy this code into your word pad or text editor, and then open up your website or blog HTML editing tools and paste it into the body of your site, where you want it to go. If you are using a blog site hosted on blogger.com, then you will just past this code into a "HTML/Javascript" gadget.
Step12 Congratulations! You are finished. Refresh your site and check out your ad!

Tips & Warnings!
>Remember to include all of the relevant site keywords you can think of into your HTML meta tag keyword section, and to also include keywords in the content areas of your site. These keywords will be used by Google crawlers to serve ads on your site that are appropriate to your content. This is important because as people read your content, they will also get ads that might interest them. You do not want to have a woodworking site displaying ads about nightgowns and Vegas gambling. The ads need to be relevant to your site content.
>Be Patient - it might take a long time to start getting any ad clicks, and the money earned will be very small at first.
>DO NOT CLICK ON YOUR OWN ADS
>DO NOT PERSUADE OTHERS TO CLICK ON YOU ADS
If caught doing any of the two last “Don’ts”, your account will be canceled and all your earned money and time will be wasted.

How to choose an affiliate program

Some of the below factors should be considered.

1. Can you make money from the product?
Don't be swayed just by high commission figures or multi-tier payments. You need positive answers to both these two questions
Is it a product that people want and will buy? Consider how it will fare alongside the competition.
Is the commission rate sufficient to make your efforts worthwhile?
2. How effective is the sales page?
Visit the sales page of the product to confirm that the sales copy does a good job of selling the product. Be aware of the various ways that can lose out on your commission. (These are explained in the following tip in this section.)

3. Check out the affiliate support
The merchant should provide you with much more than just a link to join the affiliate program. Check for any useful promotional material - sample ads, articles, solo mailings, endorsements/reviews, signatures
Ideally there will be an affiliate mailing list so that the merchant can convey useful news. You want someone reliable who won't disband a program or make rule changes without telling you.

4. How many affiliate programs should you promote?
If you plan to put a number of affiliate products on one page then the more you have the more diluted the effect. The exception being if they all relate to the same topic

Otherwise if you keep them separate you can have as many as you like but do not underestimate the work involved for you on the administration side such as
* Different procedures for signing up
* Different ways of creating affiliate links
* Different methods of payments, at different intervals
* handling ongoing communications from every program.
A good compromise is to use a company which contains many affiliate programs under one umbrella. They consolidate your commissions into one payment and have a standardized format for affiliate links with no individual sign-ups required.
The most popular of these, handling digital products (e-books, software), is ClickBank.

Beware! You can lose your commission
As an affiliate you want the visitor to read through the sales page and hit that “order” button with you getting credit for the sale. There are a number of reasons why this does not happen
1. There is an overt link to an affiliate sign up page. So your potential customer could simply become an affiliate and purchase the product through his own link.
2. There are many external links which distract the visitor from reaching the order page.
3. The merchant captures your commission, for example
There are offers to join a mailing list or claim a free report: you should get credited for any sale ensuing from these leads but an unscrupulous merchant may follow up and make the sale via his own link.
Similarly the merchant may use a pop-up upon exiting a site to convert a leaving visitor into a sale for which you do not get the credit.

4. Your product is just one of many unrelated products on a page – it may be a put-off for the potential customer.
5. Remember ClickBank mentioned previously?
If you are a ClickBank affiliate and the merchant offers multiple payment options (such as Paypal) then if ClickBank is not chosen you do not get the commission.
So you have seen a list of reasons why you are not getting those commission checks.
What can you do about them then?

Never link directly to an affiliate site
You should never openly use the URL that an affiliate program provides for you.
You should link instead to a page on your own site which then leads to the affiliate program.
The reasons?
1. On this page you can provide your own introduction to the product or service you are promoting. This can include, for example:
- Additional detail not available in your posting or advert
- Your own personal experience
- A review of the benefits
2. You can provide links to the rest of your site in case your visitor is not interested in that affiliate product.
3. Your own site traffic statistics will indicate the response to your advert in addition to any stats provided for you by the affiliate company.

4. You can submit the page to search engines.
5. With the real URL visible there is a risk that the reader removes the suffix (agent code) so that you do not get registered as the affiliate agent
6. If the affiliate operation becomes discontinued you can inform and divert visitors at your own website, rather than have them visit a non-existent page.

Why you should conceal affiliate URLs - and how
It's a proven fact that many customers will not click on an affiliate URL at your site.
Maybe they resent seeing commission paid to an affiliate, maybe they feel less security when buying from an affiliate.
So, suppose they see a link looking like this in the browser status bar
http://www.abc.com/123
Where '123' is your affiliate code.
They may decide to bypass the affiliate code and just type in the home page URL
http://www.abc.com

And that means you lose out on the commission.
Here is how to conceal not only the affiliate code but anything about that URL which may indicate it is an affiliate link. Use some Javascript.
Then 'ABC' will show in the browser status bar instead of the URL.
But what about the case where you want to send out that URL in an email ?
That's an easier target, ideal for commission theft as you will see in the next tip.

Watch out for commission theft
Certain affiliate link formats are not 'protected'.
In other words they have a simple format such as http://www.abc.com/123
and if you display that in an email type message, for example in a newsletter, then your reader can substitute his own affiliate code and claim commission on his own purchase.
So you need to protect (or disguise) your link, and there are a few ways to do this
Use a redirect file
Use a 'short URL' service
Use an ad tracking link

Getting the edge over rival affiliates
Here are two ways to stay ahead of the competition
1. Your potential customer may have visited several sites, all promoting the same affiliate programs as yours, before deciding to purchase.
So what can you do to convince him to return to your site and buy?
You announce a special offer, stating that you will provide a bonus (give details) if they buy from you. Tell them to send details of the receipt after purchase.
2. As an affiliate, once your visitor clicks on your affiliate link, you have lost him.
If he visits the product site and decides he is not interested there is no way you can get in touch and persuade him.
And even if he does purchase there are some affiliate programs which don't reveal the name of the customer so you would be unable to follow up with further promotions.
So is there a way you can make contact?

Yes - you should offer a free report or free e-book which resells the product, but they may have to signup or register with their contact details. You then have the contact details and can do whatever follow-up is necessary.

How to Build a Successful Online Business

7 crucial steps to building a successful online business.

  1. Step1

Traffic without this essential element your online business will die period. Many Guru's have there own way of generating traffic and you will usually have to pay through the nose to find out how it is done. Here are some of these tactics that many Guru's use to generate tons of traffic.

  2. Step2

Joint Ventures. This is when two or more individual join forces to accumulate more subscribers from the other guys list. Look for other niche like folks who you might be able to connect with you.

  3. Step3

Successful Article Marketing. My favorite and in my opinion the easiest way to generate traffic. You write articles about your niche and submit them to article directories. This is really a no-brainer.

  4. Step4

Co-Registration is new way to get opt-in subscribers to your newsletter or ezine. You do this by getting your visitors to signup for a free subscription service. Or you can offer them a chance to opt-in to other offers your "thank-you page" that appears after the initial registration.

  5. Step5

PPC or Pay per click. This is one way to get tons of immediate traffic but could also become the most costly. If you have no idea what it is or how to get started in PPC I highly recommend you do research first. There are numerous forums and blogs that talk about PPC in detail.
There are other ways to generate traffic such as SEO, Web 2.0, ad swapping and offline advertising.

  6. Step6

Build a subscriber list. It is essential that you build a list of folks who are looking for what you have to offer. Put a form on your website or blog asking your subscribers to join your list and make sure it is an opt-in list. This is really easy to do. Ask your web hostingcompany to develop a form for your website today. This should be done free of charge.

  7. Step7

Turn you subscribers into buying customers. Once you get a large list you can now give them more information about your products. The more free information about your products the more likely they will purchase now and later. The above four steps are crucial for anyone who wants a successful online business.

How to Increase your Productivity

Develop clear goals and write them down.
Because higher productivity begins with clear goals, goal setting is a key component of our coaching program. As you know, a goal must be specific and measurable to be effective in guiding your behavior. It must reflect your beliefs and be within your power to achieve.

Write a clear action plan.
Next, if you want to turbo-charge your productivity, make sure you have a clear, written plan of action. Every minute you spend in careful planning will save you as many as ten minutes in execution.

Set your priorities.
The third step is to prioritize your list. Analyze your list before you take action. Identify and start with the high-value tasks on your list.

Concentrate and eliminate distractions.
In this step, choose a high-value activity or task, start on it immediately, and stay with it until it is done. Focusing single-minded attention on one task allows you to complete it far more quickly than starting and stopping.

Lengthen your workday but increase your time off.
By starting your workday a little earlier, working through lunchtime, and staying a little later, you can become one of the most productive people in your field.

Work harder at what you do.
When you are at work, concentrate on work all the time you are there. Don't squander your time or fall into the habit of treating the workplace as a community where socializing is acceptable.

Pick up the pace.
At work, develop a sense of urgency and maintain a quicker tempo in all your activities. Get on with the job. Dedicate yourself to moving quickly from task to task.

Work smarter.
Focus on the value of the tasks you complete. While the number of hours you put in is important, what matters most is the quality and quantity of results you achieve.

Align your work with your skills.
Skill and experience count. You achieve more in less time when you work on tasks at which you are especially skilled or experienced.

Bunch your tasks.
Group similar activities and do them all at the same time. Making all your calls, completing all your estimates, or preparing all your presentation slides at the same time allows you to develop speed and skill at each activity.

Cut out steps.
Pull several parts of the job together into a single task and eliminate several steps. Where you can, cut lower-value activities completely.

How To Avoid The Seven Signs of a Scam

It’s a shame that there are so many people out there trying to rip off the work-at-home job seeker. It’s even more disheartening to see them targeting the stay-at-home mom, the retiree, and the disabled. But the fact remains; they’re out there trying to capitalize on your desire to stay home and earn an income. And they’re making good money while they’re at it, because there’s no shortage of people who want so badly to believe their claims of easy income and instant wealth.
So how are we supposed to separate the scams from the real jobs? The legitimate business opportunities from the schemes?
Your number one guide should always be your common sense (why would a lawyer in South Africa select you to handle his billion dollar account, I mean let’s be honest!). There are always warning signs, and here are the top seven.
1. Advertisements for “envelope stuffing”, “mail processors” and “home typists”.
In all my experience in online recruiting, I have never come across a legitimate job for an envelope stuffer. Nor have I ever, in my life, met someone who was an envelope stuffer. (And could you really say with any measure of pride that you are a professional envelope stuffer?)
These advertisements are always the same. They charge you a certain amount of money so that they can send you detailed instructions of how to advertise for envelope stuffers. You’re selling the very same packet that you just paid 30 bucks for, but you only get $3. There’s no product, just their self-perpetuating ads to sell more $30 packets.
Home Typists? What company needs 5,000 home typists? If a company needs some typing done, they’re not going to advertise it on the internet where they’re going to get 10,000 replies. They’re going to hire an administrative assistant who can type a report and hand it to them- while greeting clients and answering the phones.
That’s not to say that there aren’t legitimate Data Entry jobs available. Companies often find a need for specialized skills that can be done by a freelancer on a contract basis. Some examples would be database work, research projects and seasonal billing needs. But the key is that they involve a specialized skill that their existing employees don’t have.
2. They’re asking for a fee.

If it’s supposed to be a job, how on earth do they justify charging a fee? I’ve seen ads that say, “We have to charge a fee to make sure that you’re serious”. Why don’t they just post their job on E-Bay and give it to the highest bidder? Imagine going for an interview and the employer says, “Have a seat. Now, before we get started, I’m going to need $39.95 from you. We have to make sure you’re serious.” Would you pay them? Of course not! So why would you pay someone who is claiming to be hiring just because it’s on the internet?
Now, a business opportunity is different. You have to expect start-up costs for any business- but that’s a story for another day…
3. Job listings with typos and ALL CAPS.
These telltale signs should raise a flag right away. Do you really want to work for someone who can’t spell?
4. The job description says, “no skills or experience necessary!”
Really? Why not just have their kids do the job for 50 cents an hour? Managing remote employees is extremely challenging. Employers who hire and supervise telecommuters want highly skilled, experienced employees that they can trust. They have to be confident that they can perform their jobs with little or no supervision. This is why most telecommuters are required to work on-site for a certain period of time before they’re allowed to work from home.
5. Vague or non-existing job description.
The more vague a job listing is, the more likely it is to be a scam. There’s nothing more aggravating to a recruiter than getting bombarded by resumes from unqualified candidates. This is why most legitimate job listings read like a novel. They want to be sure that only the ones that meet their criteria respond.
This leads me to an important bit of advice for telecommute job seekers. Never, ever respond to a job listings that you are not fully qualified for. I spend a lot of time recruiting companies that have telecommute policies to post at my site. Many of them are reluctant to post their listings online because they are inundated with responses from people who aren’t remotely qualified. It gives all of us a bad reputation and cuts down on the number of jobs that are advertised. I just can’t stress enough how important this is.

6. No contact information.
If you can’t reach someone to ask a question, or ask for a reference, then there’s something wrong. A real employer wants to get the position filled, and if you are qualified, they want to convince you to work for them. You should be able to reach them (or someone in their company at least) directly.
And the number one sign of a scam:.

7. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
A case in point: A company posted a job listing for U.S. Representatives. Seems they needed people to accept shipments of computers and electronics and then ship them to international destinations. They were offering an outrageously high salary and reimbursement for shipping. They allegedly had offices in the United States, so why would they need John Smith in Hoboken, New Jersey to handle their shipping? Sounds fishy, right? It was. They had people ship the computers all right, but never paid them.

Many people rely on the website that carries the listing to screen out fraudulent listings, but the truth is that most of them don’t have the resources to screen every post. In fact, most sites carry a disclaimer stating that it is the job seeker’s responsibility to screen potential employers.
The bottom line is that you should let common sense be your guide. If something seems not quite right, don’t bother. At the very least, check out any company thoroughly before making any commitment.

How To Sniff Out An Internet Scam

Like any other environment that offers the average individual the opportunity to amass a substantial amount of wealth fairly quickly, the internet not surprisingly is rampant with scams. No doubt the situation today is far better than it was a few years back but that still does not negate the fact that the potential for you to get scammed is relatively high.

Sir Joshua Reynolds once remarked, “there’s no expedient to which a man will not resort to avoid the real labor of thinking” an observation which has since proved to be the cornerstone of many a marketer’s success as well as that of the average scammer.

How so?

Because people are very willing to part with their hard-earned cash just as long as you furnish them with a short-cut solution that solves their problem. That is why people flock to buy downloadable courses, be they on internet marketing or any other subject!

Meanwhile as things stand, the world of today is one of instant gratification which means that people want what they want right now, not tomorrow, not in several hours, but now!

This current trend of instant gratification is largely driven by the internet which has popularized the concept of instant delivery. It would not be wrong to say that the internet, in essence, has basically revolutionized the way with which we interact with one another and the world at large.

Another reality that the internet has spawned is a bumper crop of internet marketing millionaires; a reality that has proved to be a veritable magnet to a constantly-refreshing harvest of starry-eyed, gonna-be-rich-soon newbie marketers.

But what most of those gonna-be-rich-soon marketing hopefuls are not aware of is that a lot of that online-generated wealth (at least in internet marketing circles) came about through long-established and convincing scams!

COMMON TOOLS USED IN INTERNET MARKETING SCAMS

In the real world, more often than not, before you invest a significant sum of money purchasing anything, you most likely scout around to see whether that item is any good. And the way most of us go about establishing the credentials of an item we’re interested in, is to see what other people have to say about it.

If the vast majority of people have only good things to say about the item then that fact alone is generally more than enough to convince the average person that it indeed is worthwhile to make the purchase.

This pattern of noting what other people are doing/saying before we subscribe to a particular activity or purchase any item is what is known as social evidence (in other words mimicking what others are doing or basing our behavior on theirs).

This principle of social evidence has particular importance on the internet.

This is so because of the fact that the internet is a virtual reality which means that we’re restricted to only a few of the senses we regularly use in the real world; which is of particular significance because it is that much harder for us to evaluate and assess anything being sold online

That does not mean we have to take a complete stranger’s online claims as the gospel truth though. Don’t forget we still have the principal of social evidence to fall back on; which is where the ubiquitous testimonial and screenshot come into play.

Testimonials are a time-tested and proven method of conveying customer appreciation for an item. Screenshots too are regularly used in marketing circles to persuade otherwise skeptical or ambivalent prospects that purchasing the advertised item will undoubtedly improve their financial situation or whatever it is they need.

Unfortunately like many seemingly-genuine product reviews plastered across the internet, far too many testimonials and screenshots are fake! This obviously is done with the intention to convince prospective buyers that they are making the right choice when they buy the item. Such activity is known as manipulating social evidence and is widespread across the web.

To surmise, other than using your common sense, there are some very simple tricks you can readily utilize to determine whether a testimonial/screenshot (and thereby by proxy the item being advertised) is genuine:

1. Check to see if the testimonial has an accompanying URL (the URL does not have to be activated; you can always paste the URL into your browser and get to the site via that means). If none of the testimonials have accompanying URLs pass on the item (such testimonials reek of scam!)

2. If there is an accompanying URL, click through to the web site and evaluate it. If the web site is nothing more than an adsense-template site or looks as if it was slapped together in haste, once again it’s probably best to pass.

3. Google the name of the individual supposedly supplying that glowing review (testimonial) and peruse through the resultant listings; quite often if the individual(s) is associated with scams or fraud at least one listing pertaining to that damaging aspect will show up!

How to Defend your Website from the Google Duplicate Proxy Exploit

There is a current and active way to knock a website out of Google’s search engine results. It’s simple and effective. This information is already in the public domain and the more people that know about it, the more likelihood there is that Google will do something about it. This article will tell you how it works, how to get a website knocked out of the search engine rankings, but most importantly, how to defend your own website from having it happen to you.

To understand this exploit, you must first understand about Google’s Duplicate Content filter. It’s simply described thus: Google doesn’t want you to search for “blue widget” and have the top 10 search terms returned copies of the same article on how great blue widgets are. They want to give you ONE copy of the Great Blue Widget article, and 9 other different results, just on the off chance that you’ve already read that article and the other results are actually what you wanted.

To handle this, every time Google spiders and indexes a page, it checks it to see if it’s already got a page that is predominantly the same, a duplicate page if you will. Exactly how Google works this out, nobody knows exactly, but it is going to be a combination of some or all of: page text length, page title, headings, keyword densities, checking exactly copy sentence fragments etc. As a result of this duplicate content filter, a whole industry has grown up around trying to get round the filter, just search for “spin article”.

Getting back to the story here, Google indexes a page and lets say it fails it’s duplicate content check, what does Google do? These days, it dumps that duplicate page in Google’s Supplemental Index. What, you didn’t know that Google have 2 indexes? Well they do: the main one, and supplemental one. 2 things are important here: Google will always return results from their Main index if they can; and they will only go to the Supplemental index if they don’t get enough joy from their main index. What this means is that if your page is in the supplemental index, it’s almost certain that you will never show up in the Search Engine Ranking Pages, unless there is next to no competition for the phrase that was searched for.

This all seems pretty reasonable to me, so what’s the problem? Well there’s another little step I haven’t mentioned yet. What happens if someone copies your page, let’s say your homepage of your business website, and when Google indexes that copy, it correctly determines that it’s a duplicate. Now Google knows about 2 pages that it knows are duplicates, it has to decide which to dump in the supplemental index, and which to keep in the main one. That’s pretty obvious right? But how does Google know which is the original and which is the copy? They don’t. Sure they have some clever algorithms to work it out, but even if they are 99% accurate, that leaves a lot of problems for that 1% of times they can get it wrong!

And this is the heart of the exploit, if someone copies your websites homepage say, and manages to convince Google that *their* page is the original, your homepage will get tossed into the supplemental index, never to see the light of day in the Search Engine Ranking Pages again. In case I’m not being clear enough, that’s bad! But wait, it gets worse:

It’s fair to say that in the case of a person physically copying your page and hosting it, you can often get them to take it down through the use of copyright lawyers, and cease and desist letters to ISP’s and the like, with a quick “Reinclusion Request” to Google. But recently there’s a new threat that’s a whole lot harder to stop: the use of publicly accessible Proxy websites. (If you don’t know what a Proxy is, it’s basically a way of making the web run faster by caching content more local to your internet destination. In principle they are generally a good thing.)

There are many such web proxies out there, and I won’t list any here, however I will describe the process: they send out spiders (much like Google’s) and they spider your page, take your content, then they host a copy of your website on their proxy site, nominally so that when their users request your page, they can serve up their local copy quickly rather than having to retrieve if off your server. The big issue is that Google can sometimes decide that the proxy copy of your web page is the original, and yours is not.

Worse again, there’s some evidence that people are deliberately and maliciously using proxy servers to cache copies of web pages, then using normal (white and black hat) Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques to make those proxy pages rank in the search engine, increasing the likelihood that your legitimate page will be the one dumped by the search engines’ duplicate content filters. Danger Will Robinson!

Even worse still, some of the proxy spiders actively spoof their origins so that you don’t realise that it’s a spider from a proxy, as they pretend to be a Googlebot for example, or from Yahoo. This is why the major search engines actively publish guidelines on how to identify and validate their own spiders.

Now for the big question, how can you defend against this? There are several possible solutions, depending on you web hosting technology and technical competence:

Option 1 - If you are running Apache and PHP on your server, you can set the webhost up to check for search engine spiders that purport to be from the main search engines, and using php and the .htaccess file, you can block proxies from other sources. However this only works for proxies that are playing by the rules and identifying themselves correctly.

Option 2 - If you are using MS Windows and IIS on your server, or if you are on a shared hosting solution that doesn’t give you the ability to do anything clever, it’s an awful lot harder and you should take the advice of a professional on how to defend yourself from this kind of attack.

Option 3 - This is current the best solution available, and applies if you are running a PHP or ASP based website: you set ALL pages robot meta tags to noindex and nofollow, then you implement a PHP or ASP script on each page that checks for valid spiders from the major search engines, and if so, resets the robot meta tags to index and follow. The important distinction here is that it’s easier to validate a real spider, and to discount a spider that’s trying to spoof you, because the major search engines publish processes and procedures to do this, including IP lookups and the like.

So, stay aware, stay knowledgeable, and stay protected. And if you see that you’ve suddenly been dumped from the Search Engine Rankings Pages, now you might know why, how and what to do about it.

How To Get The Best Traffic Of Your Life

Website traffic is monitored through various tools. Many of the best tools are free, but the results may need some interpretation. There are many companies that provide services that monitor and analyze website traffic. There are also ways for website owners to learn to perform this service themselves.

It may take a while to learn, but it is a worthy investment, especially if a website owner is serious about growing the traffic to his or her site. There are many reasons to analyze website traffic. One of the biggest reasons is that it gives site owners a way to monitor the effectiveness of their site. If, for example, a website is registering 3,000 hits during a two-day span, it sounds like the website is doing reasonably well.

On closer examination, however, the owner sees that the visitors are only staying a minute, and are not looking at the other content on the site. Now, the owner can try to solve the problem, and find ways to encourage the visitors to stay longer. Increasing website traffic takes time, luck, and skill. For any one topic, there may be a million or more web pages devoted to it. In order to get traffic to one particular site, the owner needs to know how to get his or her content noticed.

Website traffic is no different, you must continue to offer some great giveaways and more information for your visitors. This will make it easier for contacting them and telling them about more of your special offers. As you see, the sources for free web traffic are many and they can become valid contributions to your online business prosperity, if you are willing to pay the price of work, time and dedication.

Website traffic is by using a traffic exchange. Submit it to a few article directories, and you’ll get some readers. If they like it, some will even take it and use it on their websites, creating valuable one-way links. Meanwhile, some readers will like it enough to want more, and they’ll click that link in your resource or “about the author” box at the end of the article.

Website traffic is to register your website with the major search engines. But all your efforts can go in vain if the content of your website is not fully optimized. We provide you customized seo services which are highly key word oriented suiting your needs and requirements. We focus on increasing the amount, quality, and relevance of your website content, and on increasing the popularity of your site by having other sites link to your site.

The more people “in the market” that your message reaches,. So how do you ensure that hundreds, thousands or even tens of thousands of your potential customers come to your website? Website traffic is to use pay-per-click (ppc) services such as google adwords, or yahoo or a host of other pay services. You also need to know what you’re doing or you could find yourself spending lots of money, getting poor results and losing money very quickly.

Also, when you’re first starting out, you have a limited budget, and starting with ppc campaigns may not even be an option for you at this point in time. Free traffic exchanges can be a great way to get traffic to your website. You should also know there’s really no such thing as free because you must spend your time surfing through other websites to earn credits.

Free traffic exchanges are a great way to get lots of visitors to your site however, so spending an hour a day surfing, is not a lot to ask if you’re making sales from your efforts. And isn’t this why your in this business to begin with? Free traffic exchanges are a great marketing tool for a many reasons. The best reason is that you get lots of people looking, and hopefully clicking on your website or promotional pages.

But there are hidden benefits to free traffic exchanges you may not have even considered. Search engines love free traffic exchanges because of all the incoming and outgoing links they generate. Plus the rapidly changing content is another reason the search engines love traffic exchanges. Exchanges that have more content also generate a higher page rank, and therefore more traffic, and increased memberships.

Website traffic is one thing, but targeted traffic is everything. You have no doubt seen dozens of offers similar to 10,000 hits. Is completely untargeted and will undoubtedly result in a very. The illusion of progress, but you will achieve better results. With a lower volume of highly targeted traffic. I speak from experience because in the early days of developing. My home business, i went for the big numbers instead of focusing.

Website traffic is actually very easy, and in some ways it is easier than buying the traffic for a website. The primary way that people obtain information about a website is through search engines, so it is a good idea to optimize a website for search engines. This is done through a process known as, you guessed it, search engine optimization. Search engine optimization is a process that optimizes web pages to allow them to show up at the top of the first page of popular search engines, such as google or yahoo. Most individuals pay for search engine optimization. But what they don’t know is that they can do it themselves for a small investment.

You want the kind of visitor that gladly opts-in to your newsletter and practically begs to buy what you have to sell. In pursuit of this, i have purchased, studied, and tested many courses on the subjects of. Website traffic is to ask a “how to” question and write about your solution. If you’ve got a motor-related site, writing an article on “how to sell a car” could be an excellent idea. In the landscaping business? “How to plant a tree?” would make for a good article too. What could you write if you have a conference facility? How about “what to remember when arranging a wedding or business function?”?.

Not only will writing articles bulk up your website’s content, which search engines love, but will also add value to other websites that publish your writing on their websites. The good thing about good articles is that they tend to circulate the net pretty well. By adding an optimised link to the bottom of your article you could in turn generate more traffic to your site. But articles aren’t the only way of generating traffic to your site. Something that is destined to become more popular is the inclusion of a business blog on a website. This lets you build a personal relationship with your customers. Naturally, the blog needs to be well thought of before being added.

Will it be a regularly updated blog or one that is updated less frequently? Will there be one or more voices/writers for the blog? Everyone has their own preference to a style of writing. Letting your staff or departments publish their own blogs will create even more opportunities of attracting more than one type of reader or client. Adding a tool that people are searching for is yet another excellent idea. It could be a currency converter, bmi calculator or a free online travel organiser – anything that is related to your website and that offers an invaluable benefit to those who find it.

Website traffic is always an advantage so the effort should not stop, even if the alexa ranking seems satisfactory versus the competition. However this approximate analysis will give a good indication of whether the website traffic problem is one of extreme urgency that needs to be handled as a priority. Do what is necessary to grow your website traffic. So you’re now understanding how many visitors you have to your website. One important thing to realize is that as mentioned above, this count includes spider visits as well. This may be a significant part of the total traffic.

What are the steps to be taken to increase that visitor traffic to the website?. Website traffic that is looking for you is the best. Most people will instinctively think about search engine rankings for keywords as a way to boost website traffic. However if a website has been constructed to be informative for human website visitors, then an important slice of the effort needed has already been invested. Website traffic is the conversion of the average visitor into a long-term customer. Website traffic is to buy banner ads on websites in my market. This is by far the best, fastest and most predictable form of traffic you can have.
Website traffic is to generate brand familiarity and preference through an emotional association. Brand familiarity will make the customer more likely to associate your product or service with your company, and thus either contact you or buy your product.

There are three main methods to generating ongoing traffic to your website. There is no reason for a potential customer to come back if there’s no new information. New articles, company information, product or service information, images, pdfs, you name it. As long as it’s relevant to your business, put it up there. But what if nothing’s changed? What if your company just does the same thing over and over and over?

How To Sell Your business to The Targeted Market

Finding Your Target Market

When I teach small business classes on marketing strategy, I often ask participants the question, "Who are your customers? Who will buy your product?" I am often surprised that otherwise savvy small business people either have no idea who will buy from them, or they assume that 'everyone' will.

Assumptions like this can lead to wrong decisions, wrong pricing, wrong marketing strategy – and ultimately, business failure.

The most successful small businesses understand that only a limited number of people will buy their product or service. The task then becomes determining, as closely as possible, exactly who those people are, and 'targeting' the business's marketing efforts and cash toward them.

You, too, can build a better, stronger business, by identifying and serving a particular customer group – your target market.

One of the first things you need to do is to refine your product or service so that you are NOT trying to be 'all things to all people.' Become a specialist!

Next, you need to understand that people purchase products or services for three basic reasons:
To satisfy basic needs.
To solve problems.
To make themselves feel good.

You'll need to determine which of those categories your product or service is the solution to, and be prepared to market it accordingly.

Your product or service may fit more than one category, too – for example my business targets folks who just want to be trained on how to fearlessly invest their money in a sure investment vehicles. So our job is looking out for such individuals, corporate bodies, hold investment awareness programs, do some investment advisory and get them to involve their money confidently.

The next step in creating an effective marketing strategy is to zero in on your target market.

Zero in on your target market by using Market Segmentation.

First of all, is your product international or national in scope? Or is it more likely that you will sell it primarily in your own region or community? In the case of our Investment business, our primary market is actually national or international – Most cases, we do have clients Nigerians abroad or foreigners who meets us online, through phone calls or through physical visits for our services. Our secondary market is local – people who are resident within, a company meeting us for trainings, advisories or investment deals.

Let's say that your primary market is local or regional, and that you live in a community with a population of 25,000 people. The first thing you'll need to do is research the 'demographics' of your community, and divide it into market segments:
Age: children, teens, young, middle, elderly
Gender: male, female
Education: high school, college, university
Income: low, medium, high
Marital status: single, married, divorced
Ethnic and/or religious background
Family life cycle: newly married, married for 10 – 20 years, with or without children.

This information should be available to you through your local town , hall, library, or Chamber of Commerce – and the more detail you can get, the better.

Next, you need to segment the market as much as possible using 'psychographics' as your guide:
Lifestyle: conservative, exciting, trendy, economical
Social class: lower, middle, upper
Opinion: easily led or opinionated
Activities and interests: sports, physical fitness, shopping, books
Attitudes and beliefs: environmentalist, security conscious.

*Note: if you are a B2B company, you'll also need to consider the types of industries available to you, and their number of employees, annual sales volume, location, and company stability. In addition, you might want to find out how they purchase: seasonally, locally, only in volume, who makes the decisions? It is important to note that businesses, unlike individuals, buy products or services for three reasons only: to increase revenue, to maintain the status quo, or to decrease expenses. If you fill one or more of these corporate needs, you may have found a target market.

By now you should have a picture emerging of who you think your 'ideal' customer is … or who you want it to be. Depending on the nature of your business, you might even be able to write a description of your customer. "My target customer is a middle-class woman in her 30s or 40s who is married and has children, and is environmentally conscious and physically fit." Based on the numbers you uncovered in your research, above, you may even know, for example, that there are approximately 9000 of those potential customers in your area! It may well be that 3000 of them are already loyal to a competitor, but that still leaves 6000 who are not, or who have not yet purchased the product from anyone.

Do the research!

Lots of times prospective customers don't know about your company, or can't tell the difference between your company and others. It is your job, once you know who your best customers are, to 'target' the group that you've identified – even if you have competition.

In addition, you may decide, using the example above, that you'd also like to extend your target market to include women from 50 – 60 years of age. If you go back to the basic reasons why people purchase goods or services, and can find ways to target your efforts to that age group, you may be successful in capturing a bigger share of the market!

On the other hand, what if you 'specialized' your product or service and then researched your target market, only to discover that there are probably less than 75 people who will buy from you?

First of all, if those 75 are corporate customers who will spend hundreds on your product or service annually, then you have nothing to fear. But if those 75 are only going to spend N100 every decade on your product or service – then you need to go 'back to the drawing board' of planning your business and perhaps determining a wider target market – but at least you are armed with all the information you need to start again, or go in a different direction.

Let's face it – there's a market, and a target market, for everything.

Wish you success.
